Rejoice in Art! Celebrates Five Years
in the South Bay, October 12-13

– Fine Art Fair & Exhibition Showcases Local and National Artists –

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (September 24, 2019) – For the fifth consecutive year, the Rejoice in Art! Fine Art Fair and Exhibition will bring beauty into focus–gathering together the finest in original artwork for a grand opening event, October 12-13 at Riviera UMC, 375 Palos Verdes Blvd.

Art collectors, enthusiasts and the general community are invited to attend this premier South Bay art extravaganza, featuring a national juried exhibition, as well as 32 local artists in tents and booths, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The colorful, creative atmosphere is brimming with live music, art demonstrations, food, opportunity drawings and more.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our fifth anniversary event in the South Bay,” said Lynn Attig, director, Rejoice in Art! “Our success can be credited to the overwhelming support of our art-loving community, along with the commitment and excellence of our fine artists, both here and afar.”

Throughout the festive weekend, a variety of artistic talents will be represented in all price ranges, including original paintings in oil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media, along with ceramics, jewelry, woodturning, photography, glass and metal art.

New this year is the Artist Quick Draw, in which the public can watch multiple artists at work in a live, simultaneous painting event, from 2-3 p.m. Saturday.

Attendees are also invited to view 90 original paintings on display at “For the Beauty of the Earth 2019,” an exclusive juried exhibition featuring works by artists nationwide, including many from the South Bay, Torrance and Palos Verdes areas. Artworks have been juried in by esteemed painter Barbara Jaenicke (barbarajaenicke.com), and all are available for acquisition.

The juried exhibition winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony on Sunday, October 13 from 3-5 p.m. They have been selected by Desmond O’Hagan (desmondohagan.com), an internationally acclaimed oil/pastel painter based in Denver. After opening weekend, the fine art exhibition will continue until October 27 during select gallery hours (Fri/Sat/Sun, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and other hours by appointment (310-378-9273).

Free demonstrations will be offered during the fair by distinguished artists painting in oil, pastel and watercolor/collage. Live musical entertainment also will be provided throughout the weekend, including performances by rock, jazz and classical groups.

A highlight of the weekend is the Art Opportunity Drawing, Sunday at 4 p.m., in which members of the public vie for pieces of original art for the price of an opportunity ticket ($5).

All Rejoice in Art! activities include free admission and free parking, plus purchasable food. Net proceeds from the event benefit Riviera UMC’s outreach projects, along with its art and music programs. Riviera UMC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

“We invite people of all ages to enjoy this festival and discover the meaning of beauty, lovingly created at the hands of these talented artists,” Attig said.
